Major Milestones
- Foundation of the Department of Sports Medicine and Physiotherapy on 23rd August 1995.
- Creation of Faculty of Sports Medicine and Physiotherapy on 13th September 1999.
- First Ph.D. (Sports Medicine/ Sports Physiotherapy) in Asia in 2000.
- Department hosted 25th Indian Association of Sports Medicine Congress on 3rd – 7th December 2003.
- Department gets the Centre of Excellence of Sports Sciences on 4th April 2006.
- Department Shifted to new building of Centre of Excellence of Sports Sciences on 16th July 2009.
- Department organized 12th Asian Federation of Sports Medicine Congress (1st International Congress in India) on 3rd- 6th December 2009.
- Faculty of Sports Medicine provides medical cover to the athletes in the Commonwealth Games held in New Delhi on 3rd - 14th October 2010.
- First M.D. (Sports Medicine) in Asia in 2011.
- UGC SAP Sponsored department
- MOU with Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India in year 2017 and department renamed as MYAS-GNDU Department of Sports Sciences and Medicine.
